More studio, more updates

Like many of you, I’ve been stricken by the tragedy in Colorado and trying to wrap my head and heart around it and the aftermath. I was deeply grateful for a thoughtful, compassionate and dead-on sermon from our pastor on Sunday that cut straight to the heart of the matter – I’m working on a post to share my thoughts about it which I hope to have up later in the week.

In the meantime, some good things have happened which are keeping me busy. I applied to be and was accepted as a vendor at the wonderful Rusted Gingham Barn Sale in Gonzales, Texas in November. It will be my first vendor show featuring my own designs – I did lots of them when I was a rep for a national jewelry company that specialized in home shows, but I’ve never done a trunk show or vendor show with my own stuff. I’m really looking forward to it and feel very honored to have been selected… but now I have to start getting my display together!

I also, at long last and in my unending quest to get the studio updated and reorganized, got special shelves installed today to hold all my beads. I am so, so, so excited to have them – I literally have been wanting something like this for five years, and have had friends saving and donating baby-food jars to the cause for at least two years. All of them are now upstairs in the studio waiting to be pressed into service. After the installation crew left, I spent two hours going through beads and getting them transferred from plastic tackle boxes into glass jars… and I’ve hardly made a dent. Yikes. This is clearly going to be a longer process than I expected. But it’s going to be wonderful when it’s done!

And finally, I have been working with the always-awesome Brandi Hussy on a little website redecorating. I’m honestly so excited about this I can hardly stand it – I got an e-mail yesterday from Brandi with a color palette to illustrate some of her ideas, and I was literally squeaking with excitement because it was so perfect. I can’t wait for you to see everything – it’s going to look so different around here. Fresher, happier, more like the work I’m doing these days – and more like I’m feeling. God is so good, and I am so grateful for the way he’s meeting me in this place and season. Looking forward to what comes next!
