I’ve been sick – again – and facing some medical stuff in the coming month that is starting to feel a little overwhelming. None of it is life-threatening (unless I don’t do something about it!) but it would be easy to get discouraged. I’m taking it one day at a time.
I haven’t had much energy for the studio – last week I was working a lot of hours at work and battling my second case of bronchitis for the year, so it was far, far easier to lie on couch and do more photography exercises.
As I was browsing through the Beyond Layers Flickr group, I was really struck by this photo from a fellow Beyond Layers participant, Sue Longstaff:
I thought this was such a beautiful and sculptural treatment of a simple daisy! I was inspired to try something similar with a photo of a hibiscus I took when we were in Hawaii in 2009. Here’s the original:

I’m having a lot of fun with these classes – and learning a lot. More coming soon, I’m sure!
