Lizards and Torches

We have a lizard in the garden! (Camera phone photo, sorry!)

When we first spotted him, he was the same bright green as the leaves – but he saw us coming and skittered around the corner of the tree trunk, changing color as he went. It was really interesting to watch. Hard to tell scale from the photo, but he was longer than my hand – good sized. And I think he was feeding on all the little ants that were scurrying around. We’ll have to keep our eyes out for him – he’s very beautiful.

I felt better yesterday than I have in about two weeks – the secret may be the Greek yogurt I’ve started eating, and I’m not even kidding. I spent a very productive afternoon in the studio, experimenting with silver reticulation (another camera phone photo, sorry!):

I’m a sucker for anything to do with fire! This is an unfinished piece, but I like the direction it’s going. The reticulation is a fascinating process, and I’m limited by my little torch as to the size of the pieces I can tackle, but I’m very intrigued. I have another piece I’m working on today that will be mounted on heat-patina’d copper. Can’t wait to see how that turns out!

What are you working on today?
