Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him, so you will grow in faith, strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with thanksgiving for all he has done. – Col 2:7
There is so much to be thankful for today. We’re missing our daughter, but she is in good hands in Virginia and we’re thankful for that. We’ll be spending the day with good friends, and I have bread rising in the kitchen and am peeling potatoes in preparation for good food and good times.
Days like this are opportunities to set aside all the minutiae that tends to overwhelm us and recalibrate our focus on the things that matter. We are especially grateful for God’s provision in the last six months – and humbled. Our income dropped by a third when I left my job and six months later we aren’t behind on any of our bills, we still have a roof over our head and food on our table, and I have been able to invest in my business. That’s all due to God’s amazing grace – none of it should be possible on paper.
So as you go about your day today, take a few minutes to look at the broad strokes of your life. God’s fingerprints are all over it – do you see them? If not… look for them. They’re there. He’s with you. And that’s enough to be grateful for.
