My name is Francesca Watson and I make things.
My infatuation with making jewelry started in 2007 and in 2013 I ran away from my grown-up career in small business management to spend time rediscovering who I am and what I want my life to be about. Today, I am co-owner of The Makery in Bulverde, Texas, where I spend most of my days experimenting with new techniques and teaching metals and jewelry-making. When I’m not in the studio, I’m tending to our home in the country, where we have a garden, chickens, and two dogs named Rocky and Bella. Sometimes, I’m fortunate enough to be on the road teaching workshops at venues and studios around the United States, where I’ve met amazing, inspiring people from all walks of life. Today, I can honestly say that I love my job.
I am an unapologetic Christ follower and I sometimes write about my spiritual life and journey on my blog. (Occasionally this spills over into political commentary, but only when I can’t help it.) I’m also a firm believer in the importance of creating experiences for people from across the social, cultural and political spectrum can come together to enjoy the creative process and one another without fear of judgment or criticism. I am committed to community involvement and supporting others in their ministry and volunteer work, and 10% of every sale goes to various charitable organizations; these charities change from time to time, but I tend to seek out organizations that work to empower, train, and educate women and children.
